How I started working in Children's ministry?

I started volunteering in the children ministry since I was in 5th grade. I started with the very small things such as babysitting, being in the worship team, getting more involved in all church programs. It gradually became more and more once starting middle school where I was old enough to become teachers assistant. I started to enjoy working with children then saying this is not only to get volunteer hours. After years past, during my sophomore year of high school, one of the directors asked me if i can give a message for the preschoolers. Afterwards she confirmed with me that I should do this more in the future. I went into college with Christian ministry and through hours of volunteering and many opportunities to teach I was able to have an internship and do what I love which was serving and teaching in the children ministry.

Internship Experience:

My internship experience at the Church of Southland has allowed me have first hand experience with teaching children from 2-7 years old. With here and there with 8-10 year old. Mostly working alongside with the children pastor I was able to help in administration but also up front leading worship and messages. Church of Southland is huge on their children ministry and teaches in how the message is related with their personal lives as christians. A program that we use is of AWANA, for this part of the internship I help with the administration making sure attendance is regularly updated and that every child has record of where they are in their most current books. And on the day of help set up the computers and rooms for the children to learn. Then when it comes to time of Awana I serve part of Cubbies, which is suited for preschool age. I have also worked with Puggles program which is Awana for toddlers. I have also gone to AWANA olympic games and see the children compete. God has used every single sundays and friday to allow me to build relationship with these children and could have not been more grateful to have this opportunity to teach the word of God to these children.

Dream Ministry

When I envision my ministry and where I want to be in the future is to see different children around the world worshipping who God is. If it is God to do it around the world or even right here in California. I wish to gradually grow in the understanding of different aspects of the church and to be able to grow not only just children's ministry. It may take time to pursue my dream, but through prayer and through perseverance, I hope to see it come true.
